User feedback

I record a lot of tutorials, sometimes over an hour long. The smaller file sizes are a big plus. I don't want my recordings eating up all my storage.

What matters in this feedback

James describes recordings that can run for more than an hour. His priority is keeping long recordings manageable within the storage available on his Mac.

How LiteRec supports that need

LiteRec offers presets with different resolutions, frame rates and target bit rates. Mostly static explanations can be a starting point for a smaller-file preset, while fine details and fast motion may need higher quality. The storage calculator helps with planning, and the storage experiment discloses its original samples and comparison limits.

If the spoken explanation is all that matters, audio-only mode can save Mac playback without a video track. Keep video whenever the visual material is part of what you need to revisit.

Connecting saved material with the next piece

After recording, local transcription can turn speech into text for review and export. Your chosen writing or AI tool can then help organize topics and questions from suitable material. Keeping the recording, reviewed text and outline together makes it easier to check the source later.

A useful starting point is permitted content, a short playback check and a preset chosen for the details you need. Keep sources for quotations and distinguish permission to record from permission to republish.

Where it fits

The feedback speaks to keeping long recordings manageable. LiteRec handles recording and transcript preparation; complex editing and multi-track production need other tools.
